The US Highway 17 Frontage Road Enhancement Project involves the beautification of a newly constructed frontage road along US Highway 17 in Georgetown, South Carolina.  This portion of US Highway 17 is a highly traveled and highly visible corridor that greets both City residents and visitors traveling from the Grand Strand area into Georgetown.
 
The US Highway 17 Frontage Road Enhancement Project will include landscaping and irrigation in the grass median between the Frontage Road and US Highway 17.  A permanent irrigation system consisting of a 2” main feeding associated pop-up sprinklers for grass and drips around plantings shall be installed.  Planting will include 30 Sabal Palm, 140 Adagio Grass, 110 Majestic Beauty, 320 Parson Juniper, and 240 Sweetgrass (Pink Muhly).  The entire median shall be prepared and grassed by hydro-seeding a mixture of Centipede, Bermuda, and Browntop Millet.  All work will be completed within the SCDOT right-of-way and the City of Georgetown will provide long-term maintenance for this project. Copies of the Contract Documents and plans may be obtained by a request in writing to:  City of Georgetown Water Utilities, P.O. Drawer 939, Georgetown, SC 29442, Attention: Will Cook.  A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 will be required on each set of contract documents requested.
 
Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check of the Bidder, or by a Bid Bond made payable to the Owner, for an amount equal to not less than 5% of the total bid as a guarantee that, if the bid is accepted, the required Agreement will be executed and that a 100% Performance Bond and 100% Payment Bond will be furnished. Also, Liability and Workmen’s Compensation Insurance Coverage in an amount acceptable to the City will be required.

The owner reserves the right to waive any informalities in bidding and to reject all bids if it is in the owner’s best interest to do so.  Unless all bids are rejected, award will be to the low responsive, responsible bidder.  The City of Georgetown is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
